Thermic Tablets – Big

Description

The Thermic Tablets (Big) extend the same principle as the small set to a larger working format. Six pairs of tablets, each pair cut from a different material (felt, cork, wood, glass, slate, and steel), feel distinctly different to the touch due to how readily each material conducts heat away from the fingertip, even though all six pairs remain at the same room temperature. The set is housed in a polished wooden box with six fitted compartments, one for each pair.

The child works by pairing tablets of matching material through touch alone, then comparing how each pair feels against the others. The larger tablet size makes the material especially suitable for smaller hands and group demonstration work, while still delivering the same refinement of the thermic sense and the same early introduction to material-based, rather than purely temperature-based, tactile discrimination.
