The Addition Strip Board gives children their first structured, hands-on encounter with addition, turning an abstract operation into something they can see, touch, and count. The board itself is printed with a 12 by 18 grid, with the numerals 1 to 18 running along the top edge, creating a clear visual field for every combination the child will build.

Working with a set of red and blue wooden strips of graduated lengths, the child physically constructs an addition problem, for example placing a blue strip of six alongside a red strip of three, then counting across the grid to arrive at nine. This superposition method makes the logic of addition concrete before it is ever written down, and repeated practice across the full range of 1 to 9 combinations naturally builds towards memorisation of the addition tables.
