Cards for the Geometry Cabinet

Description

Designed as the natural extension of the Geometry Cabinet, this set of geometry cards moves the child from three-dimensional insets to two-dimensional representation, a key step toward abstraction and, eventually, drawing and writing.

The thirty-two hardboard cards are organised into three beautifully polished wooden cabinets, each divided into six compartments that mirror the six drawers of the Geometry Cabinet. Every shape appears in all three cabinets in three different forms: as a solid filled-in figure, as a thick outline, and as a thin outline, with each cabinet clearly marked to indicate which stage it represents.

Working through the three cabinets in sequence, the child’s eye is gradually trained to recognise a shape from a progressively finer and more abstract representation, until the thin outline alone is enough to identify it. This graded progression builds visual discrimination and shape recognition that later underpin geometry.
